Pandemic (Bucksburn Academy’s senior steel pan band) won Aberdeen City Council’s ‘Children and Young People’s Award’ for Expressive Arts on Wednesday night at the Beach Ballroom.

The 16 senior pupils who travelled to London for the Panorama Championships and Notting Hill Carnival last August were recognised for their hard work, organisation and expertise and were told they deserved the award for “sheer excellence”. The judges felt this was a very strong application which showed great talent and great success for all involved. With some of the members of Pandemic now having left school, new senior pupils have stepped up to take their place and did a great job of providing the opening entertainment at the Awards Ceremony.
